Description
The main objective of the project is to build local government`s capacity in vulnerable communities along the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) separating the Tskhinvali region from the rest of Georgia in the following areas: regional development, promoting green innovation, social entrepreneurship and social agriculture, local visibility and women's and young people's participation in the decision-making processes. The project will meet the goal by transferring the reform experience of Slovakia in support of an effectively functioning state and local administration. The capacities of representatives of local governments from communities at ABL will be built with the help of Slovak experts from practice and professional institutions through targeted workshops and study tours in Slovakia. Moreover, the project will increase the resilience of communities along the ALB in the fight against disinformation through the development of local media capacities, local journalism and local visibility through workshops for selected local government representatives, NGOs and journalists. The project also increases the active involvement of women and young people in local government decision-making processes in target communities by "activation" through motivational events and by establishing at least 2 councils of women and 2 of youth operating alongside local government bodies. The project also supports the development of transparent activities on markets of the EU through workshops for local governments. Based on the mapped needs of communities living on ABL with emphasis on women and youth, recommendations will be formulated for decision-makers and the donor community regarding the possibilities of effective support for developing ABL communities. The implementation period is from September 2, 2021 till February 28, 2023 (18 months).
