The main objective of the project is to raise awareness of the Slovak public on the impact of the climate change on African countries and to encourage development cooperation, especially through educational activities and a new tool for measuring „ecological debt“. The tool's – climate calculator's – uniqueness is in its ability to measure the impact of people on the environment as well as its ability to propose specific actions to tackle the ecological debt. The project will include an awareness-raising campaign on climate change and poverty that will show effective measures on ecological debt reduction through agroforestry, together with SlovakAid's development projects success stories in Ethiopia and Kenya. The project's primary benefits will be in communicating the current topics of the global development education, in motivating individuals and organizations to change their behaviour, and in bringing greater support for SlovakAid's development projects. The activities of the project will have two phases. Phase one will comprise of preparation of educational tools for public - climate calculator, photographs and video portraits, brochure and handbook. Phase two, in cooperation with new partner organizations, will include educational events, such as lectures, discussions, workshops, business breakfasts, and exhibitions, aimed at schools, universities, youth, non-profit sector, business, media, and wider public. The main measurable indicators of the project will be the number of people attending events; number of views of the photographs and videos; number of people using the calculator; number of new educational materials and new partnerships in global development education.
