Since 2019, the applicant has been revitalizing the local hospital in Tikit. The aim of the SlovakAid SAMRS / 2021 / KE / 1/2 grant is to retrofit the facility and reprofile it from the level of a dispensary to a health center, thus increasing its position in the Kenyan health system and payments from insurance companies. One of the biggest obstacles to the development of the hospital is the shortage of medical staff in Kenya, who are poorly educated according to WHO and European Union standards. The role of the volunteer will be health and educational activities. Specifically: 1. Provision of health care in the hospital - health-preventive activities at the clinic, examination of patients, diagnosis, treatment, recommendations for home treatment, vaccination, preventive care, ambulance 2. Medical trips to the community - the volunteer will be part of a trip unit, which twice a month makes trips to more remote areas in order to "bring" healthcare to places where patients do not normally get to the hospital. Outpatient trips always last one day and consist of examining patients, proposed treatment, promotion of one of the topics of public health, vaccinations. 3. Training of Kenyan medical staff in WHO standards - Kenya has committed to using WHO standards in medicine, but there is no real possibility of training in hospital standards. The SlovakAid volunteer will educate the staff of the health center, or other surrounding centers, in the so-called good practice in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
