Description

The project includes a study assessing the existing state of public lighting as part of the critical energy infrastructure. Taking into account the obtained data, the study will propose a set of measures for modern lighting control system and its operation, which will be in accordance with cross-sectional theme no. 13 - Measures to combat climate change and its effects. If the situation allows, a pilot of the smart lighting installation on the selected street in the given city will also be part of the project. This study can subsequently be used as a basis for the development of projects for the restoration of lighting in the cities financed by other programs. A gender-sensitive approach will be applied in the planning and design of individual measures, in line with cross-cutting SDG No. 5 - Elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls, so as to ensure a safe and comfortable environment, in priority for women and children, who, according to statistics and scientific research, are more likely to be victims of certain forms of assault on the streets, in particular sexual harassment and sexual violence. Such acts can be motivated by a variety of factors, including gender inequalities, as well as inadequate lighting on the streets. On the basis of the above, it can be concluded that the project is categorised as B (with a positive impact on gender equality) under SDG 5 and as category B in the aspects of enviroment under SDG 13.
